Australian Capital Territory Coordinator
Amanda Eriksson
My name's Amanda. I joined the Air Force back on 17 Feb 2004 and love being a part of Defence.
A little about my work life: My mustering is clerk, and I've been posted to RAFF Base Williamtown in Newcastle with 381ECSS. That was an interesting experience. It gave me the opportunity to go out bush and play soldier on many exercises, the most memorable being 6 weeks at Weipa (far north Queensland). My current posting is in Canberra, initially with Australia's Federation Guard and now as a CPL clerk at DP-AF at Russell Offices. The best memory I have working with the Guard, was 6 weeks overseas where we went to London, saw the changing of the Palace Guards, Edinburgh where we got to see the Edinburgh Tattoo. We also visited various places like Menin Road, Fromelles and Passchendaele along the Western Front of France and Germany, and on the way back to Australia we stayed two days in Singapore. It was an amazing experience.
About me personally: I'm very openly gay, both at work and with my friends and family, although my family aren't too fond of the idea (oh well, my bad). I have a very strong faith and for a while this was a major part of my struggle with coming out and being true to who I am. I love living an active lifestyle and living life to the full, on every level! My passion is having and developing a healthy spirit, heart, mind, body and soul, and helping others to do the same. I try to live my life every day by the principle, “BE TRUE TO YOU”.
