Northern Territory Coordinator

 

Elissa Croker

 

Corporal (CPL) Elissa Croker joined the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in 2000 as a Communications and Information Systems Controller (CISCON). She served 5 years at Headquarters Air Command in Sydney, working in the Air Operations Communications Centre and with Theatre Battle Management Core Systems respectively. During this time, CPL Croker had the opportunity to visit, work and train at every RAAF base in Australia.

 

In 2003 she deployed to the Middle East, in support of Operation Slipper, on attachment with 381 Expeditionary Combat Support Squadron (381 ECSS) and 1 Combat Communications Squadron. (1CCS). 

 

At the conclusion of the deployment, CPL Croker was awarded the Meritorious Unit Citation from the Commanding Officer of 381 ECSS, in conjunction with her communications colleagues. The Australian Active Service Medal with the International Coalition Against Terrorism (ICAT) and Iraq 2003 Clasps, and the Iraq Campaign Medal were also awarded.

 

In 2006, CPL Croker was posted to 381 ECSS. During this posting she was involved with many exercises and deployed again to the Middle East on Operation Catalyst and Operation Slipper.

 

Immediately after the deployment, CPL Croker was posted to Headquarters Northern Command (HQNORCOM) in early 2008. She provided communications assistance to the Armidale Class Patrol Boat (ACPB) Communications and Information Systems (CIS) Sailors on Operation Resolute.

 

CPL Croker is currently at HQNORCOM in Darwin, working in a Deployable communications section. She is the Secretary of the Reginald Rattey Victoria Cross Club and the HQNORCOM Social Club Representative for her communications branch. She is looking forward to assisting and engaging with the local GLBTI community and liaising with other government agencies.
