Secretary Bio

Sergeant Arron Ryan enlisted into the Australian Army as a Driver in January 1997. Since then he has served in Newcastle, Townsville, Wagga Wagga and Sydney where he is currently posted to 'A' Fd Bty as the Transport Supervisor. Sergeant Ryan has been deployed on operations outside of Australia twice within his career, once to East Timor in 2002 and to the Solomon Islands in 2003. His career has seen him employed as a driver, a Heavy Cargo Transporter, Bulk Fuel Operator, Section Commander, Driver Testing Officer, Recruit Instructor, and now the Transport Supervisor and Troop Sergeant for CSS troop, 'A' Field Battery.

Sergeant Ryan has been involved with DEFGLIS in an informal and formal capacity for approximately five years. His role as Secretary has seen him employed vastly in the coordination of the 2008 Christmas dinner and 2009 Mardi Gras amongst the planning and general operations of the service. "Whilst it is a challenge to balance the demands of a functional and social organisation such as DEFGLIS with the full time employment of the Army the reward for a bit of hard work is a positive end result."

Sergeant Ryan currently resides in Western Sydney with his partner of seven years, Justin, and their two dogs. They are active participants in personal training and sports and enjoy socialising on weekends.
